    • (File under HUMOR:) Police Horses tweet in humorous parody twitter account. Police respond the spokesperson @MsInformation.
    • Mobile Apps in the Museum. iPhone app that lets you learn more in the museum. The article makes a good point–while these seem to enrich the experience, perhaps it “gets in the way” of interacting with the actual display.
    • “Ginormous Bus” straddles two lanes of traffic, and cars will pass underneath. Powered by Solar Cells.
    • MiFi for the “Pay as you Go” user. VirginMobile has released the MiFi 2200, available for $149. Rates start as low as $10 for 100MB (or 10 days) and goes up to $60 for 5GB and 30 days. Perfect perhaps for “streaming content” like I did with the Water Polo tournaments. Reviewed by SlashDot.
    • AT&T disappoints us again… reducing our plan, and charging more for it. AT&T seems to have every excuse in the book to reduce our “unlimited data plans.”
    • I received my formal Hulu+ invite. Now tell me, why do I “to subscribe to the ad-supported Hulu Plus preview”? I want to pay $10 for their ads? I don’t think so…
  • EXCEL TIP: (May only work in Windows)
When you are copying data from one cell down a whole column, the first thing we learn is to highlight the cell you are copying, and then dragging the bottom right corner down highlighting all the cells you want to fill. It turns on there is an easier way:

Move your cursor to the bottom right corner of the cell. It will turn into a thin “plus” sign (+). Just double click, and it will fill all cells until it reaches the end of the column of data.

    PICKS OF THE WEEK:

Tony: (not) Flickr!! The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines “pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr.” Linking directly to the photo file doesn’t do this. http://www.flickr.com/help/photos/

      • India to offer $35 tablets–on their way to $10. Even with touchscreen, and expected in 3 sizes. THIS is the move that makes it practical for students. Pipe dream?

Would YOU buy one? two? three?

Jailbreaking: The Library of Congress now says we “can.” Apple says it still voids the warranty. Bottom line: Apple can still play cat and mouse, it is simply made clear that we won’t be prosecuted from the Government for DCMA violation. But the determination covered 6 areas, including the breaking of CSS encryption of movies when segments are to be used “the purpose of criticism or comment” and they explicitly included “educational uses.”

    • NEWS

New Magic Trackpad from Apple. Is it worth it? Mac only? Or can Steve hack it? I still wonder if it might lead to “touch” interface apps on the Mac OS. Lots of Q and a few As here. While we haven’t heard about Win7 drivers for TrackPad support there are drivers for the MagicMouse, so I suspect trackpad drivers are coming.

Windows drivers are out. Nice that the drivers for Mac bring additional functionality to MacBooks and MBP. “The new software also updates the MacBook and MacBook Pro multitouch trackpads with inertial scrolling and three-finger drag, which is pretty nice — we’ve got it installed on a unibody MBP and it’s working as advertised.”

PHOTOGRAPHY VIEWS: Recommended site for HDR. http://stuckincustoms.com Many pointers, and a free tutorial for making your own HDR photographs.

APP CORNER: FlipBoard. Solely iPad, but a great way to get the CONTENT your friends share through links. FREE!
